10 lbs in One Month Challenge!

I've challenged myself to try my best to get HEALTHY. No,I am not looking to lose weight to "look pretty". I think as Christians we should be taking care of our body a whole lot. The bible says that our body is a temple:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.

Knowing this,we should not be letting our body be hurt by harmful substances or just blatantly not taking care of ourselves! I want to bring praise to God in a body that I feel will bring Him glory, because I took care of it as He told me. If you really think about it,if WE hold the Holy Spirit in us,and the Holy Spirit is a GIFT from God,then why would we NOT want to treat our body like royalty in care?

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 ESV

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

My plan is to do mostly cardio to lose the extra weight, then start working on strength with weights. I know this is going to be a tough journey. I have gotten used to eating fast food and really not caring as to what I put into my body. In honesty,I feel so guilty for poisoning my body with chemicals that affect my body negatively. I am going to try my best to not eat out anymore & to cook my food at home so that I know what is in it. It is such a blessing that we are giving the opportunity to have food available to cook and eat. Many other countries do not have that. Yet we take it for granted every day! It is sad how we have forgotten the blessing a home cooked meal can be to our families.

Romans 12:1-2 ESV

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

If you would like to join me in my challenge let me know! :) I will be posting updates on my progress when I get a chance. I look forward to hearing your opinions and I hope you will join me.

God Bless!

MmmmMMMmmm Banana Bread!

So I have gotten into this "mood" of baking lately which is really weird for me because I am really not patient enough to bake. I like to be mixing, stirring etc and not just sitting around waiting for the timer to go....DING!

This week I had a sweet tooth and when me and some family members went to the store,I saw a loaf of banana bread that looked DE-LI-CIOUS. Normally I would just buy the banana bread already made, but since I've been trying to learn new things and be a "modern vintage woman",I decided to google a recipe and try to make it myself.

This is what I came up with! :) (the pictures may not look too great because I took them on my iPod)
In a large bowl, stir together the melted butter and sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla, mix well. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt, stir into the butter mixture until smooth. Finally, fold in the sour cream, walnuts and bananas. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean. Cool loaf in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
Okay,my oven door was a little dirty -blush-.

If you'd like to try this recipe for yourself Here's the recipe! Good luck! You will LOVE this banana bread. It is so soft and fluffy and mmm mmmm GOOD! :))

God Bless! <3

"Home Sweet Home" Project 1-Squeaky Clean Floors

Last week my goal was to scrub the floors clean of all the dirt stains and stubborn dirt that creeps into the cracks of the tile in the kitchen.

It took me about two days with help from all the girls in the house to finish and we left the floor looking great.  I really wish I would have took a "before" picture to show you all the difference between the beginning and the end.

We spent about 2 hours a day on our knees scrubbing the tile with antibacterial sprays and it was worth it.  I am looking into learning more about making my own cleaning products to save my family money and also make it "safer"  for the young ones.  I have a few ideas that I will share with you all later in other posts. If you all have any homemade cleaning product recipes feel free to share them with me! I enjoy learning new things that benefit not only myself but my family as well.
The picture above is a picture of the floor about 2 days after we cleaned it up. It is a little messy but that's what happens when you have people walking in and out! =o)
